Lock and Safe

Rekeying & master keying

Rekey the locks you have. Control who holds a key.

Rekeying changes the pins inside the lock so old keys stop working — usually far cheaper than replacing hardware. We also design master key systems and cut keys while you wait.

When to rekey

  • You just bought or moved into a home
  • A key was lost, stolen, or not returned
  • An employee, tenant, or contractor left
  • You want one key to open every exterior door

Master key systems

For offices, apartment buildings, HOAs, and short-term rentals, we lay out a keying plan so each person opens only what they should: individual change keys, sub-masters for managers, and a grand master for owners. We keep records so future keys and rekeys match the system.

For tighter control, we offer restricted keyways from Medeco, ASSA, and other manufacturers where duplicates can only be cut by an authorized dealer.

Key cutting and repair

Standard house keys, padlock keys, mailbox keys, and high-security keys cut while you wait. We also extract broken keys from locks and repair sticking or worn cylinders.

Common questions

Is rekeying cheaper than replacing locks?

Almost always. Rekeying reuses your existing hardware and changes only the internal pins.

Can you rekey all my locks to one key?

Yes, if the locks share a compatible keyway. Bring them in or we can do it on site.

Can a hardware store do this?

A hardware store can copy a key. It can't rekey a lock, build a master key system, or extract a broken key — that is locksmith work.
